You are not a cosmic accident. You are here because God ordained your birth and your life, before the world began. You are here to do the good works that God prepared for you.
Ephesians 2:10For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
2 Is there more to life than what I can see?
Yes, there is an unseen world. There is eternity: heaven and hell.
Colossians 1:16For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.
3 Does life go on after we die?
Yes, this life on this earth is only a very small part of your eternal life. You were made for eternity. When your body dies, your spirit will continue, either with God in heaven, or to eternal judgment in hell. While you are here on earth, a decision must be made to put your faith in God or in yourself.
4 Is there a God?
Yes, creation itself, what has been made, is evidence than there was a creator, a maker.
Romans 1:20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
5 If there is a God, is he distant and unreachable, or does He interact with life here as we know it?
He is both. To those who don't know Him, He is distant and far off. To those who know Him he is near, and personal.
6 Can I know Him personally?
Yes. While you are here on earth, a decision must be made to put your faith in God or in yourself. His death on the cross, His payment of the penalty for your sins, is a gift. And like a gift you must take it to make it yours. Until then it is just a gift extended to you but still in the hands of the giver.
7 Can I be sure He is real?
If you want to know for sure if He is real, ask Him to reveal that to you. Then be alert for His answers.
8 My life is a mess, can a relationship with God change that?
Yes, a relationship with your creator makes all of life make sense. If puts a reason behind everything, from suffering to joy. We become connected with a heavenly father who is perfect in His love for us, His plan for us, as well as His discipline and training of us.
10 My life is fine, I am loving it! I see no need for anything else. Do I still need God?
Even if your life is pleasing to you right now, you must remember this life is a vapor, it is fleeting, and always subject to change as time passes. And it is not all there is. Eternity is a long time. This life must be lived not just in light of temporary satisfaction, but in light of the eternity that awaits you, either with God, or apart from Him.
11 Can I believe in God, and still have my life the way I want it?
Your life can be better than the way you want it. Your life can count for eternity.
12 Do I have to give up all my fun and pleasure to know God?
Yes and no. Yes, you will need to give up everything that twists your soul and destroys you. But from another point of view, no, you will not have to give up anything worthwhile. In fact, what you will gain will so brilliantly outshine what you have lost that the loss, in retrospect, will appear small, insignificant and possibly even comical for the importance it once held to us. The bad news, however, is that giving up these things is seldom fun. The good news is that if we are willing to obey, God can help us.
13 If God is all knowing and all loving, why is there still so much suffering? If there is a God, why doesn't He fix all the problems in the world?
He will, ultimately. But "fixing" problems is not God's purpose, although He can and does do so when He chooses. But His ultimate purpose is much bigger than to simply make life happy, comfortable and easy. His ultimate purpose is to burn away all that's ugly in us, and to teach us patience, love, endurance, justice, mercy and holiness.
Jesus healed many people during his lifetime, but by no means did he heal all, or even all that crossed His path. His purpose in coming was not, per se, to heal people of sickness, although He did at times do so. His purpose was to die that He might make a way for individuals to be cleansed and able to come to God as their Father. The same is true for life in general: God's purpose is not to remove all suffering from our lives, although He does at times do so. His purpose is for us to come to know God as our Father, as a a Person who created us, knows us, loves us, and has a incredible plan for our future if we are willing to love and obey Him.
14 Some really awful things have happened to me, how could a loving and all powerful God have allowed it?
God, if you seek Him, will bring understanding to you personally, of how in the midst of suffering, God works all things to good for those that are the called according to His purposes.
